About
Creatively using media to present Biblical Truth until the Church is established.
The world is huge but the latest technology puts it in the palm of our hands. We are here to reach that world with the message of Christ through the use of media.
History
Avant Ministries, formerly Gospel Missionary Union (GMU), has emphasized the need for missionaries throughout the Muslim world since its founding. The first party of GMU missionaries arrived in North Africa in 1895. These pioneers dedicated their lives to teaching the Word of God to whomever would listen. This was not easy in an area dominated by Muslims who were often hostile to the message as well as to the messengers. In the late 1960’s missionary activity was banned and many GMU workers were officially expelled. Undaunted, the missionaries moved their print shop, Bible Correspondence Course ministry, and radio ministry to Málaga, Spain, to continue from a distance. Thus Málaga Media Center (MMC) was established.Other ministries were added over the years. In 1986, the first short-term Bible school was held in Spain. This training program was transferred to North Africa in 1992 and it continued to teach a growing number of nationals. In 1996 the first music institute was held with the purpose of training nationals to write praise songs in their own language. Many songs have since been written, and several Arabic Christian CDs have been produced and distributed.
Málaga Media Center currently has an Arabic web site that provides radio programs, online Bible correspondence courses, Arabic songs, Arabic Christian music videos, and answers to common spiritual questions. The MMC video studio produces videos and television programs in English, Arabic, and Spanish. Recently several telephone counseling centers have been set up within North Africa.
Staff
Málaga Media Center is blessed to have a diverse group of individuals working to reach North Africa and Spain. Our diversity displays itself by where we are from, what language is our native tongue, the foods we eat, and the interests we have. Though diverse, we are unified in our calling to reach lost souls for Christ. Our staff come to Málaga from Canada, North Africa, Spain, United Kingdom and United States.
Just as each of us has one body with many members … so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
